Behind The Name of some of our pieces ...
The Remi Initial Necklace
This necklace is named after my maternal grandmother, Remedios. As the matriarch of of our family, I truly believe she is why all the women in the family are strong and driven (and maybe a little stubborn sometimes). My Lola (Filipino for Grandmother) along with my Lolo raised 7 children in a small province in the Philippines, running their own tailoring business to support their family. All 7 children, including my Mum were able to attend university because of them.
I feel like many kids of immigrant parents are really driven becuase of what their parents/grandparents instilled in them - hard work and sacrafice. I definitely think I get these values from my Mum & Lola, which is why I wanted to pay homage to them with my first necklace, a pendant that sits close to your heart.
The Aurelia Hoops
Aurelia (also spelled Aurelía, Aurélia or Aurelija) is a feminine given name from the Latin family name Aurelius, which was derived from aureus meaning "golden".
Since our brand name means "golden lady" I thought it would be fitting to name a piece from our collection something that aligns with AUMIA.
The Sucré Ring
Sucré is the French adjective meaning "sweet" or "tasting of sugar".
I've always thought that the Sucré ring resembled a croissant so wanted it's name to reflect it's indulgence.
